Born in a musical family, Rupam stepped into stage performance at the tender age of four. From here, Rupam started performing at Akashvani Kolkata. In 1998, Rupam released his first solo album, Tor Bhorshate. The album was a huge success and was re-released in 2003 and 2007 due to public demand. In 1998, Rupam formed his own band, Fossils and delivered four popular albums. Rupam was the lyricist, music composer and the lead vocalist of Fossils. Later, Rupam joined Ananda Bazar Patrika’s FM Radio Channel as a RJ and his popularity grew at a meteoric speed. Apart from singing, writing and composing, Rupam also directed his music videos. Bollywood happened to him with a debut in playback singing for the film, Jannat where he sung for the popular composer, Pritam.
