Udit Narayan Jha is one of Bollywood's most successful playback singers. He has sung countless numbers in languages like Hindi, Urdu, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Oriya and Nepali. Born in Bhardah, Nepal in 1955, Udit Narayan began his career by singing in Nepali, Maithili and Bhojpuri. Later, he moved to Mumbai and received rigorous training in Indian classical music. His claim to fame came with the successful Bollywood movie, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. The success was followed with chart buster tracks from super hit films like Dil, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander, Darr, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dil To Pagal Hai, Mohabbatein, Devdas, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Swades and Veer Zaara.
In his long career span, Udit has worked with eminent music directors like Rahul Dev Burman, Jagjit Singh, Anu Malik, Jatin Lalit, Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Kalyanji-Anandji, Bappi Lahiri, Vishal Bhardwaj, A. R. Rahman, Nadeem-Shravan, Rajesh Roshan, Shankar Mahadevan, Himesh Reshammiya, Pritam Chakraborty and Vishal-Shekhar.
He has also worked for Nepalese films and released successful albums like Bhajan Sangam, Bhajan Vatika, I love You, Dil Deewana, Yeh Dosti, Love is Life, Jhumka de Jhumka, Sona No Ghadulo, Dhuli Ganga, and Ma Tarini.
Udit Narayan is a proud recipient of several National and International awards. These include Screen Videocon Award, MTV Best Video Award and Pride of India Gold Award. He is also a recipient of the Padma Sri award, one of India's highest civilian honors.
