Rahat Fateh Ali Khan BIOGRAPHY
Qawwali has been a 600 year old family tradition for the Faislabad born Rahat Fateh Ali Khan who is the son of Qawwali singer Farroukh Fateh Ali Khan and nephew of the legendary Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Under the guidance of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan made his first public performance at the age of eleven and simply enthralled the audience. One can easily spot Rahat assisting his father and uncle in many of their performances' video recording from the eighties and nineties. After the sad demise of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, he took over the family Qawwali party being the only successor nominated by Nusrat Sahab.
Since then, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has performed on several International shows entrancing world audiences with his mystical voice. He has also done recordings for several albums and soundtracks for films like 'Four Feathers' and 'Apocalypto'. Producer Rick Rubin of Red Hot Chilli Peppers has too teamed up with Rahat and has praises for him. Rahat Nusrat Fateh debut in U.S. was a runaway hit and was highly appreciated. He has mesmerized the Bollywood audience with songs like 'Jiya Dhadak Dhadak...' from Kalyug, 'Bol Na Halke Halke...' from 'Jhoom Barabar Jhoom', 'Jag Soona Soona...' from 'Om Shanti Om' and 'Main Jahan Rahoon' from 'Namastey London'.
