Remo Fernandes is a pop fusion artist and playback singer from the Indian state of Goa. As a child he was exposed to a truly international variety of music like African, Portuguese, Cuban and Jamaican to name a few. He would write songs based on the socio-political situations in India and soon became famous in the 80s and 90s for his disco style of music, which was prevalent in Bollywood at the time.

His first hit album Pack that Smack came out in 1986 and soon he became the highest selling English rock musician in India. Soon he was seen attending and participating in International Music Festivals around the world and started winning awards in many of them. Also he would release songs on the ongoing events in the country like the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi, the Babri Masjid demolition etc.

He first moved to commercial Hindi cinema with Mani Ratnam's Bombay, for which he sang Humma Humma composed by A.R. Rahman. His first commercial pop album, O Meri Munni was released in 2000 and became a big hit. He is also the only Indian artist to have a track (The Cyber Viber) released solely on the Internet. He has also collaborated with bands like Led Zeppelin and Jethro Tull. He is a recipient of the prestigious Karmaveer Puraskaar and the Padma Sri.
