A small town girl born to a temple priest, Richa Sharma has proved that talent and practice can take you places, no matter where you come from. Richa started honing her vocal skills since she was eight years old and learned to sing Bhajans effortlessly. She was invited to sing before religious congregations all around North India and used to receive a lot of appreciation. Later, she went through a meticulous training in Indian classical at the Gandharva Mahavidyalalya. Soon Richa added ghazals, film and folk songs to her repertoire, thus getting a strong command on varied forms of singing.

Bollywood didn't happen to Richa as easily. For a long time, she sang bhajans in order to continue her struggle in Bollywood. Finally, she was offered a song in Sawan Kumar's 'Salma Pe Dil Aa Gaya'. The songs were quite popular but Richa's voice went unnoticed.
It was only with 'Kahin Aag Lage Lag Jaave' from Taal and 'Maahi Ve...' from 'Kaante' that Richa got recognition from the masses and the industry. Thereafter a spate of hits followed for Richa in form of 'Zubeida', 'Saathiya', 'Hera Pheri', 'Khakee', 'Baghban', 'Rudraksh', 'Kal Ho Naa Ho' and many more including her much appreciated solo albums titled 'Ni Main Yaar Nu Sajda Kardi', 'Piya' and 'Winds of Rajasthan'.
