Roop Kumar Rathod is an Indian playback singer and music director.Roopkumar is the son of the late Pandit Chaturbhuj Rathod, the classical luminary - an exponent of the rare and arguably the oldest style of singing i.e. Dhrupad. He belonged to the "Aditya Gharana of Jamnagar".Pandit Rathod has trained and groomed many well known names like Kalyanji - Anandji, Manhar Udhas and many more. He is famous throughout Bollywood as an excellent playback singer, music director having also performed extensively with Anup Jalota as a percussionist. He married Anup Jalota's ex-wife, Sunali Rathod and has a daughter from her. Roopkumar has two brothers, music composer Shravan Rathod and singer Vinod Rathod.Roopkumar was introduced as a playback singer by the music directors Laxmikant - Pyarelal for the Hindi film Angaar (1992). Later, he sang in the Hindi films such as [[Gumrah[[ (1993), Raja (1995), Naajayaz (1995), Gaddaar (1995), Bhairavi (1996), PremGranth (1996) etc. He got his major breakthrough with the songs "To Chalun" and "Sandesein Aate Hain" from the Hindi film Border (1997). The songs made him popular among the public. Both Roopkumar and Sunali were the contestants of Mission Ustaad, a musical show on 9X Entertainment channel. They were declared the Ustaad Jodi on February 23, 2008.
