Zubeidaa is the story of a young man Riyaz's (Rajit Kapoor) quest to recover the memory of his dead mother - Zubeidaa (Karishma Kapoor), a mother he never knew. Zubeidaa is a film set to a period when India was struggling to set its foothold after the British Raj. Zubeidaa is an ordinary girl, whose life transforms totally when she meets the Maharaja of Fatehpur. Their meeting blossoms into love and blinded by love, she elopes with the Maharaja to Fatehpur.
