Barkha Satarkar (2000)
Barkha Satarkar, a lavani artiste is the lead dancer in a Tamasha group that consists of actor Sada, dholki player Rangya, nachya Viththal, Barkha’s aunt, the orchestra and the dancers. Deeply in love with eachother, Barkha and Sada are a subject of talking for the group and an object of envy for Rangya. The group, conquering peaks after peaks of success, thanks to the skill and beauty of Barkha, receives a message about the delicate condition of Sada’s father. As Sada leaves them, misfortunes creep in. Untimely showers cancel the shows, contractors withdraw their support, flow of money stops and suddenly they seem to have fallen on bad days. Taking disadvantage of the situation, the inamdar of a neighbouring village enters the picture. He promises the group money in exchange for a private show in his house. Unable to support the idea of starving the unit to death, Barkha accepts the proposal.
