KONCHAVARAM (2014)

Synopsis

Banjara is one of the backward communities noted for its distinguished and characteristic practices, traditions and impressive costumes. This community has been suffering from poverty, illiteracy and superstitions, there are several instances of sale of children by their own parents who are in the abject poverty. Konchavaram is a place in Gulbarga district of Karnataka state, india, which has high incidence of child trafficking. Harini who is a social activist, visits “KONCHAVARAM” Village on information from her friend and police inspector, Rathod about child trafficking at konchavaram. On her visit none of the villagers responds to her positively when she tries to intract with them. She does not get any co-operation because of the attitude of kalya naik. Gradually she tries to create awareness amongst the people and calls for becoming self reliant and stopping child trafficking.
